Sofia’s Story: From self-doubt to living authentically

Sofia, a 34-year-old professional, had spent most of her life following the expectations of others – family, colleagues, and society. Outwardly, she appeared successful, but inwardly, she often felt a quiet unease. She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was “off”, only that she frequently doubted her choices and wondered if she was living her own life.

Through our Life Story Conversations, Sofia began to explore these feelings in a safe, reflective space. Using narrative dialogue, therapeutic art, and photography exercises, she gradually discovered what truly mattered to her:

  • Therapeutic Art: By painting abstract representations of her daily life, Sofia noticed recurring themes of restriction and constraint, helping her identify where she had been living according to others’ expectations.
  • Photography Reflection: She brought photos she had taken of meaningful places and moments. Discussing them in sessions revealed patterns of what environments, activities, and experiences made her feel most alive – clues to her authentic values.
  • Narrative Conversations: Through guided storytelling, Sofia reflected on key life moments, recognising times when she had acted from her own inner compass versus when she had followed external pressures. These reflections clarified her priorities and the principles she wanted to guide her future decisions.

Over a few sessions, Sofia began to experience noticeable shifts:

  • She could articulate her core values and personal priorities clearly
  • She developed confidence to make choices that aligned with her authentic self
  • Her self-doubt became more manageable, replaced by curiosity and clarity about her own path
  • She felt empowered to experiment with small changes in her career and daily life that reflected who she truly was

Life Story Conversations can help you explore a wide range of experiences – from uncertainty, self-doubt, or feeling stuck, to navigating changes, relationships, creativity, or cross-cultural challenges. Each session is tailored to your personal situation, using conversation, reflective questions, and optional creative exercises such as art, photography, or narrative writing to uncover your insights and values.

You can begin with a Compass Session – 30 minutes (£50) or 60 minutes (£100) – to get a first sense of how a reflective, creative conversation can support you. Even one session can bring clarity, new perspectives, and a deeper connection to your own priorities – a starting point for the next steps you want to take in life or work.
